Marga, mother of my grandmother, came from a Jewish family. My grandmother Liese and her sister Maritta were born at the end of the 19th century and spent their childhood mostly in Berlin. They were five brothers and sisters altogether: Mally, Leo, Luise, Maritta and Lothar. Their family suffered from several blows of fate.
